My interest in True Crime books started with Podcasts and, surely enough, made its way into all the other content types I absorb such as books. Because reading before bed is part of my routine and I get horribly scarred with these stories, I only sprinkle the books in. Regardless of when you read these true crime books, they will make you cringe.

Of all the true crime books I have read, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark is by far the most cringe. This book outlines all the doings of The Golden State Killer, most of which was written long before he was ever caught. The beauty of this book was pulled together by an amateur detective working with the real detectives to find the real killer.
Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe
When you read the description of Say Nothing, it appears as though this is one of the true crime books that will be about the murder of one women, but this book is so much more than that. It is not just about this one women, it is about a whole country and the violence that plagued it. Which makes this book not just about the murder of one women but also how it is tied into the change of entire country.
Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Cerreyrou
Bad Blood is all about corporate greed and how a small mistake can explode and turn into a massive mistake. It started with a great idea that got a whole lot of press in Silicon Valley. It attracted a lot of investors and a lot of press for doing something ground breaking. But when this blood testing machine did not work nearly as well as it appeared, even to the point of prototyping a lie, many people were deceived and billions of dollars were lost.
American Kingpin by Nick Bilton
American Kingpin is the story behind the infamous online black market, Silk Road. How it got started with the hopes that no government could dictate a market place. And how this lead to selling drugs, weapons, body parts and bodies online. How it helped many bad people do bad things that affected more than just themselves and later became an ethical dilemma: Let the masses make their own decision or dictate what people are able to buy and sell to protect others. In the end, the government wins out.
