What the hell is this magical ultimate halloween satire that has been missing all my life? This show is full of murder, famous actors, and amazing fashion. It is absolutely awful and that is why this show is so amazing and has become the comedy and thriller staple of my Halloween this season.
The Premise of Scream Queens
Chanel Oberlin, played by the amazing Emma Roberts, is the president and queen of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Tau. She has her minions who have been stripped of their names and are instead numbered, Chanel #2, played by Ariana Grande, Chanel #3, and Chanel #5, played by Abigail Breslin. These girls are rich and beautiful and live their lives as though they are the best things on earth.
When the sorority is forced to accept anyone who applies, by Dean Munche, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, including a girl in a neck brace, played by Lea Michele, not just the rich and beautiful, murders start to occur in and around the sorority house by “the red devil”. The hilarious comments that comes out of the Chanels’ mouths is what makes this show the ultimate halloween satire.
Season 1 vs. Season 2
Season 1 of this ultimate halloween satire revolves around the Chanels, the new pledges, and the red devil. By the end of Season 1, we find out who the red devil killer is. This leaves us in a place where a new killer needs to be created to keep of the murder theme. This is where the location moves from a sorority to a hospital where the only doctors are Dr. Brock Holt, played by Jon Stamos, and Dr. Cassidy Cascade, played by Taylor Lautner, and there is now the green monster. This leads to season 2 being a cheap version of season 1 with a better cast.
The Fashion
Season 1 with the rich and beautiful sorority sisters leads to some of the best fashion on television of it’s time. Part of the Chanel Oberlin character’s story is that a famous fashion designer refreshes her wardrobe every season, where she throws out all her clothes. (She won’t donate it because she can’t bare to see homeless people in designer clothes.) Half way through season 1, I started googling how I can find these amazing fashions, and I now have a few packages well on their way.
Final Thoughts
Season 1 is a must watch, particularly during the halloween season for the ultimate halloween satire that will leave you laughing. The fashion will leave you craving a wardrobe change. The famous actors will leave you gushing. And guessing who the red devil is will leave you pressing play for the next episode.
