Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow Another Fantastic Read

Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow

It is very clear how much I loved the first book in this series, Wundersmith: The Trials of Morrigan Crow. And the second book in this series, Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow, is not far behind. I think I’m addicted to the series and I can’t say I’m mad.

Premise of Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow

Now that Morrigan has made it into the Wunderous Society, it’s time for her to start school. The first half of the book covers the details: how she gets to school, the oath they must make, what she is wearing, how the school is organized, etc. Along these details, some obstacles and mysteries present themselves.

By the end of the book, the reader is versed in how the Wunderous Society schooling works, as if we could ever know everything. And many other things about Nevermoor and being a Wundersmith that were not presented in the first book.

Getting to Know Nevermoor

In the first book, we are introduced to a number of Nevermoor places, but the first book does not paint nearly as full of a picture as the second book. One of the things I really enjoyed about the second book is the deep dive into Nevermoor. The different neighborhoods, both good and bad. The tricksy lanes. The markets. And much more.

Can I Just Take Two Second To Appreciate Jessica Townsend’s Creativity?

My first article about the first book was greatly focused on how similar to Harry Potter this series is; however, when looking at the details and the imagination that went into creating this world, it is one of a kind. I’m always impressed with people who can create a magical world unlike what we see in every day. Maybe I don’t give myself enough credit, but this is nothing I could ever do. And for that, I tip my hat to Jessica Townsend for doing a fantastic job in creating a crazy fantasy world in The Calling of Morrigan Crow.

My Final Thoughts

First book was great. Second book is fantastic. All I can say is, when is number three coming out? It will be on my “to read” list sooner than later.
