I have no clue how I stumbled across this social media reality game show that I have become obsessed with. I don’t care about who wins. I don’t care about who comes in to play. I care about who stays around. I care about who is real and who is a catfish. And I care that the whole thing ended so quickly.
Premise of The Circle, Social Media Reality Game Show
A group of people are brought to an apartment complex where they cannot communicate with the outside world but they can communicate with each other. But the only way they can communicate with each other is through the social media platform called “The Circle”. Some people play themselves and some people play other people. The premise is to be the most liked person on The Circle and ultimately win $100,000. But a lot of people play a lot of strategy. There are alliances. And in the end, you don’t really know who these people are.
What Happened This Season
In season 2 of the US version of The Circle, there are more catfish than you would imagine including Nsync’s Lance Bass himself, played by his personal assistant. There is the Essex queen from Britain. There is an American beauty played by a six foot tall goofball. There is the hippy dippy big haired boy played by a writer. There is a sassy gay boy. There is a Bronx mother playing her husband. The meditationist. And the two girls who brawl so bad they get themselves kicked off real quick. The drama and the personalities are real!
Final Thoughts
I’m not the biggest social media fan. That being said, this is the ultimate social media reality game show and it is addicting. I’m looking forward to season 3, whenever that may come out. And I may start Googling the UK version to give me something to watch while I wait.
