Many of the random movies I have on this blog are either a product of availability or of Movie Crush. I use this podcast to force me to watch movie I would not otherwise watch. Some of the movies I’ve so far covered due to Movie Crush:
I was turned onto Movie Crush after listening to Stuff You Should know, one of the oldest podcasts in the podcadifier. Chuck, one of the hosts mentioned a new podcast he was starting about movies. I enjoy Chuck. I think he is delightful to listen to. And he has a friendly charm about him. So I opened my podcast app, typed in the search bar, and hit subscribe.
Chuck aims to get the famous people from the film industry onto the podcast, and although he does have a few, his list is limited. But I don’t mind. In fact it works well, maybe better without them. He has some very passionate people who know A LOT about movies. He had one recurring guest who had an entire Stanley Kubrick series. This guest knew so much about Stanley Kubrick’s movies. It was great! I now can say I know more about Stanley Kubrick and his style than I ever thought I would.
In college I took a film class as a fun way to earn college credits. It was fun, but I also learned all kinds of things about film I never thought about and started to watch films in a completely different way. That was the spark to my interest in film. After finishing the class I knew I still had an interest but didn’t know how to scratch the itch. Movie Crush has helped me scratch that itch.
Movie Crush has also brought me to watch movies I never knew about. And I’m very happy about that. Because of the knowledge both Chuck and his guests have, I feel like I am going through a master class of film that I crave.
