Love Island Should be Called: Hot People Wearing Nothing And Do Things

Make Hot People Wear Nothing

I don’t know why I turned on Love Island, specifically the UK version season 6. It’s basically a show of hot people wearing nothing and run around a villa. At first I was appalled, but then I could not turn if off. The basic premise is to put a handful of very beautiful people with perfect bodies in a villa, don’t let them leave, and give them random, yet very sexual tasks, in hopes that they fall in love. And then we will make the public not only watch it, but control what happens.

Why I’m Obsessed With Hot People Wearing Nothing

Now that everyone who reads this knows that I don’t condone how this show is being handled, I can now getting into the trashy pieces that keep me watching. It is no secret I love my trashy television shows. Cough cough 90 Day Fiance. But not only did I finish all 36 episodes of Love Island, UK season 6, I have also started the US version, seasons 1 and 2. As a side note, season 2 is only a handful of episodes in, as I write this. Needless to say, I’m in it.

First there are the couples that have (more or less) been a couple from the start, such as Mike and Leanne, Shaughna and Cullen, Connor and Sophie, who you think will continue running strong. Going strong in the beginning is no match for the things that are thrown at them. New people come in. The public vote people out. And don’t get me started with Casa Amore. You’ll have to watch to even know what that means.

In the end, the favorite couple left standing wins about $60,000 (but in pounds). I don’t watch this show for the winning aspect. In fact it doesn’t even seem like any of the “contestants” are interested in the winning piece. All the hot people wearing nothing just to look for love.

What Is With The Challenges on Love Island?

The dumbest part of the whole show is the challenges. The challenges cause to do stupid things like answer really embarrassing questions about themselves, dance provocatively, or kiss people outside of their couple. And they do it all for the glory of the win. No prizes. No one ups on other “contestants”. The practical person in me would have skipped the whole competition thing; however, competitive person in me would have probably tried to win at all expenses.

My theory on the competition is that the producers are trying to kill two birds with one stone. Try and get some substance other than just people sitting around a pool outside the villa. And also, because there are no crew in the villa, just 60+ cameras and microphones they wear around their necks, this is the time for the crew to come into the villa. They can fix or move any equipment. They can stock the fridges. They can change the linnen. And when it’s all done, no one is the wiser.

The People. The Couples.

When the show started, I didn’t really care for anyone. I was drawn to Shaughna and Cullen in an effort to get into the show. Remember this is hot people wearing nothing. But I quickly grew a strong opinion about their relationship in favor of Shaughna. After a few episodes, I started to understand the show a bit better. It’s not just a show about love but also friendship.

I found myself swaying on which characters I liked not based on how they looked or how they were in a couple, but how they treated other people in the villa. My favorite friendship on Love Island was stronger than any of the couples. I continued to like Shaughna but enjoyed her friendship with Paige. Paige quickly became my favorite islander (I even embarrassingly tried on her Scottish accent for a full night out with friends one night), but I could not relieve my love of Shaughna due to their strong friendship.

My Final Thoughts

As I mentioned, I’ve already started on the US version in Las Vegas and it’s already starting hot! Once again, it is hot people wearing nothing. I’m obsessed and you can expect to see a lot more about Love Island on this blog in the near future: UK, US, and Australia! I have plenty more to dip my little fingers into.
