What does Emily In Paris, Sex and the City, and Beverly Hills, 90210 have in common? Other than iconic fashion of their time? They were all created by the genius Darren Star. He has made a career of creating iconic shows for women over decades and is still running strong with one of his newest, Emily In Paris.
Premise of Emily In Paris
Emily works for a marketing firm in Chicago. When the marketing firm acquires a boutique firm in Paris, they send Emily in place of her pregnant boss. In Paris, Emily finds herself discovering, not only a culture that is very different from her own, but also love and friends that make for a plot worth binge watching.
The Fashion
Not only does Emily wear something new on every day of her adventure, she wears some fabulous on par with the iconic fictional person, Carrie Bradshaw. And also in Sex and the City fashion, Emily is not alone. Chinese zipper heir, Mindy brings the wild fashion. French native, Camille, brings the classic French fashion. And boss, Sylvie, brings the mature fashion. And also in Sex and the City fashion, there are some amazing suites on all the men that appear on screen. Expect a wide variety of “ooh” and “aww” fashion that will cause you to Google “Fashion on Emily In Paris.”
The Dream of Living Overseas
Part of what makes Emily in Paris so appealing is the dream of moving to Paris and living outside of the comfort zone of our own countries that we grow accustomed to. It has become a near daily daydream of mine to do exactly this. Paris may not be number one on my list, but if that is where I find myself, I will not be upset.
Final Thoughts
Emily In Paris is not only good television, it is also visually appealing. It brings the dream of living overseas to our television screens and, regardless of the drama, gives the vision of a life different from what most dream of. I am currently on season two, and if it continues to bring me all the dreams than I will continue to tune in season after season.
