The Little Book of Common Sense Investing

The Little Book of Common Sense Investing

The Little Book of Common Sense Investing has been on my read list since I can remember. I have been interested in investing for a majority of my adult life. I bought my first stocks, or rather my dad did it for me, when my grandmother died and I got a small but investment worthy inheritance. Since that first purchase, I’ve contributed at minimum $10, but usually hundreds if not thousands of dollars of every paycheck I have earned. I have listened to podcasts, read books, and had many discussions with people interested in subject as well.

Book of Common Sense Investing in 8 Words

Buy low maintenance fee index funds and hold. That is basically what I got out of this book, and mostly what I already knew. This is not the first and probably not the last I hear that this is the best way to make money in the stock market. Yes, you can be lucky and buy Tesla when it’s low even though nothing indicates it will sky rocket like it did or buy Game Stop before Reddit started talking about it. But that is all that is, it’s luck.

If someone wants a sure way of making money, it’s about buying a few index funds that ensure they are well diversified and holding it. This is how I handle a majority of my invested funds. The minority of my invested funds are in individual stocks and I can verify that my growth is not nearly as much in that account. I’ve gotten a little lucky, but not enough to validate putting all my money into individual stocks.

Final Thoughts

The Little Book Of Common Sense Investing is great for people who don’t know anything about investing. Don’t care much about it except to increase their chances of making more money. And don’t want to buy, sell, buy, sell. I have tons of friends who could benefit from this book… or they can just read the eight words above.
