If you have read my Armchair Expert post than you are well aware of how high I feel about Dax Shepard. I just think he is the bee’s knees. On Armchair Expert, Dax is always talking about doing X on Bless This Mess and doing Y on Bless This Mess. They even record the podcast on set sometimes. And I felt if I am going to continue to continue to be an Armchair Expert fan, I figured I needed to watch this show. You know, to get the full experience.
Premise of Bless This Mess
The basic premise is that a couple, a music journalist and a therapist, inherit a ranch in the middle of nowhere Nebraska. They quit their New York city lifestyle in exchange for the farm life. When they arrive, the farmhouse is anything but an ideal place to live… and then the shenanigans start there. There is the guy who lives in the barn and whose best friends are a goat and a chicken (played by Ed Begley Jr.). And there is the women who is both the general store keeper and the Sheriff (played by Pam Grier). The jokes are silly and they are dumb.
The Cast
As silly of a show it is, I love the cast. In addition to the amazing actors listed above, the cast also includes the beautiful and talented Lake Bell. She also created the show and wrote many of the episodes. The breadth of this women’s talents are insane. I guess I did not realize how silly Lake Bell was until I saw this show and understood her involvement.
Final Thoughts
So despite the goat that screams like a human and the snakes (shutter) living in the farmhouse walls. This show is cute. It is fun. And it is a light watch. It is a good background show for when you are focusing on something else or a good show for a quick and easy pick me up.
