Back to the Future: Such an Amazing and Classic Movie

What Happened on July 3rd – Back to the Future | IF I ONLY HAD A ...

Back to the Future is such a classic movie. Not in an All About Eve kind of way. But the Delorean. The life preserver vest. The flux capacitor. McFly. Biff. There is not a year that goes by that I don’t hear multiple references to this movie. This was such a classic that even the sequels are classics. I remember in middle school deciding how easy it would be to make the floating skateboard that Marty uses in the second Back to the Future. But, sigh, I never attempted to follow my plan and therefore still don’t have one.

I don’t think there is a single film on earth with Christopher Lloyd that I don’t love. He just plays the best character and in Back to the Future, he is just a crazy lovable mad scientist. He’s crazy but, as a viewer, the craziness is what makes him lovable. When he dies in the beginning, it’s sad, but then you remember, the whole point of this movie is time travel. There is a the time machine! Everything will be a-okay!

As a viewer, I try not to find the holes in movies and just enjoy the movie as it is. But how did George not question that their first son looked like the strange boy they had known when they were younger? This kid coached him into meeting his wife, who he was stalking prior to meeting her. They sat together and planned all kinds of tactics to get her to like George. You would think this kid would be a major player in George’s life.

A quick fun fact about Back to the Future: The part of Marty McFly was originally played by Eric Stoltz. They were weeks into filming when they decided he was so difficult to work with, that they decided to replace him with Micheal J. Fox. Once Micheal J. Fox came on board, they needed to refilm about half the movie after making this change.

I look forward to watching this movie next time it crosses my path, in say… five or so years.
