Considering I have a post titled “I Need More Kristin Hannah In My Life“, one could guess that I really enjoy the author, Kristin Hannah. And Firefly Lane is just another excellent Kristin Hannah book. However, for some reason, it took Netflix coming out with a show called “Firefly Lane” for me to read this, one of her most popular books. This is another Kristin Hannah book that goes along side the other five star books she has come out with.
The Premise of Firefly Lane
The story of Firefly Lane is about two girls, Kate and Tully, grow up on the same street, you guessed it, Firefly Lane, and become forever best friends. One has a mother who is always there and helps a lot. The other has a mother who is always stoned and calls herself “Cloud”. One is reserved and a little geeky. The other takes risks and is ambitious. One becomes a stay at home mom and the anchor of her family. The other becomes a successful news anchor with a boat load of money.
The story of Firefly Lane follows these two girls from their early teenaged years into adulthood, and eventually to their death. Although they are different people from different worlds, they are bonded with a need for each other and as that need grows, they deal with the trials and tribulations of life together. Like many other Kristin Hannah books, this book is not about a single event but how little decisions can shape how a life, and in this case a friendship, can form from these little decisions.
Now What?
As there are a few ways to take my finishing Firefly Lane the book, this is not the end for me. First thing is first, I need to put Netflix on right now and follow the story using someone else’s imagination. Then, there are two other books in the series. Yes, this is a series. Due to the hundreds of books on my “to read” list, I’m not sure the next two books are high on the list, but mark my words, they are there waiting for me to discover another excellent Kristin Hannah book.
Final Thoughts
It is another excellent Kristin Hannah story and there is not much more to say than that. It is a journey through two different lives that are both strenuous in their own ways. There are difficulties and there are joys. I will continue to read anything Kristin Hannah produces and enjoy every page.
