While working, some background noise and a light storyline can help keep your head down on mundane activities. Some people like listening to music. Some people like listening to podcasts. Me? I like watching a light TV show where paying attention to the storyline is not necessary to knowing what is going on. Here are 10 excellent TV shows to listen to while working.
Love Island
Love Island has been my most recent background noise for while I am working. Although things happen quickly in the beginning, they slow down as people settle into their couple. Once that happens, the rest of the show is the producers coming up with ways to create conflict, but it is all the same, they start questioning their relationship. With over 60 episodes per season and plenty of seasons to choose from between the UK, Australia, and US versions this show could take years to listen to while working without running out of episodes.
RuPaul’s Drag Race
Although RuPaul’s Drag Race is a very visual show full of pageantry, performing, and costumes, a glance here and there is really all that is needed. I do find myself pausing what I am doing to see a particularly interesting performance or costume, but once seen, watching out of the corner of my eye is sufficient to follow what is going on. The storyline can be followed without much attention.
Love Is Blind
Love Is Blind has two important aspects to the storyline, before they see each other and after. In order to follow the storyline, paying attention to who is into who in the first half and how the relationship is going after they see each other. After that, just like with Love Island, following the relationships and the drama between them makes for only partial attention which makes it perfect to listen to while working.
Married At First Sight
The premise of Married at First Sight is not dissimilar to Love Is Blind. Except the marriage comes before seeing or even talking to each other. They do not pick their mate, relationship experts do. This show is similar to the second part of Love Is Blind, where this show is all about the relationships after they get married. These relationships have their ups and downs that do not require much attention to watch.
Project Runway
Although Project Runway is a visual show, there are only two parts per episode to give this show all the attention. First part to pay attention to is the assignment for the episode and the second part to pay attention to is the runway show. The rest of the show is about process to get from the assignment to the final product. The added benefit is that it can help with the creative juices if the work being worked on is a creative project.
New Girl
Similar to other sitcoms, each episode has its own storyline not tied to the previous one. The benefit to watching a show like this while working is that if you get into deep work and not pay attention to what is going on, you won’t miss anything. There will be times where the show is watched closely and others where reciting one thing that happens will be impossible. And that is completely fine and that is why it is perfect to listen to while working.
How I Met Your Mother
How I Met Your Mother is similar to New Girl where each episode has a unique storyline not tied closely to the previous episode that makes it a great show to listen to while working. One word of warning is that the major storylines do build on each other, but it is typically a build up and therefore is not difficult to catch up. Since there are nine seasons, it is easy to continuously watch this show without much thought.
Final Thoughts About TV Shows To Listen To While Working
There are plenty of shows that are conducive to listen to while working and this list just contains a few. The big thing to look for is an easy to follow storyline that does not require too much attention. Having this kind of tv show running in the background helps with mundane tasks that require getting done for work.
